The Peace Rose, with its delicate shades of pale ivory yellow that shade to dramatic peach, is arguably the most famous rose of all time. Bred in Europe during World War II, the Peace Rose was introduced in the United States on April 29, 1945, the day that Berlin fell to Allied troops. The lovely rose with its delicate shadings quickly became a symbol of peace and hope throughout the world.

Regularly acknowledged as the Rose of the Century, it is estimated by rose growers associations that there have been nearly 40 million Peace rose bushes sold. Its popularity continues to grow with age. Growers report sales of 60,000 to 70,000 Peace rose bushes per year.

Peace Gardens

The International World Peace Rose Garden Organization was founding in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Peace Rose. Its mission is the promotion of world peace through the creation of rose gardens that become centers for peaceful community activities.

There are currently five International Peace Rose Gardens worldwide, each recognizing a different facet of world peace. They serve as a living reminder that peace begins within each one of us. The Peace Rose features prominently in each of the five gardens.

Growing Peace Roses

The plant is a repeat bloomer, and its long, straight stems and single flowers make it the perfect choice for cut flower displays.
